Origo Academy Open Days: Home Barista Workshop - 17 September
with Origo Academy

17 September, morning session
Origo Academy
What can your senses tell you about a cup of coffee - and how can that help you brew better espresso at home?
On 17 and 18 September, Origo Academy opens its doors as part of Bucharest Food Week for two days of hands-on learning, guided tastings and conversations about coffee. Each day features two workshops, available to book individually.
The Home Barista Workshop is the first session of each day: a morning experience designed to help you understand what you taste and use that knowledge to prepare better espresso at home. Across two parts, you'll move from sensory exploration and guided tasting to hands-on espresso practice.
Part one: Sensory orientation
The workshop begins with an interactive introduction to the way aroma, flavour and texture shape our experience of coffee. Through guided sensory exercises and a comparative tasting, you'll explore some of the new-season lots arriving at the Origo roastery this autumn, learn to recognise what you taste and find clearer words to describe it.
Part two: Espresso practice
After a short break, coffee moves from the tasting table to the espresso station. In a practical session focused on brewing espresso at home, the Origo Academy team will guide you through the essential variables behind a balanced cup - from grind size and dose to extraction and the small adjustments that can make a noticeable difference.
The workshop ends with an open Q&A, so bring along any questions you may have about espresso or other brewing methods you use at home.
