Romanian Artisanal Cheese: From Craft to Pairing
with Horia Simon
DeSoi Sf. Stefan
What makes a great artisanal cheese? And what stories are hidden behind the people who make it?
Join Horia Simon, chef, founder of the Transylvanian Gastronomic Club and Gura Satului in Cluj and an active promoter of local Romanian producers, for a masterclass dedicated to the world of Romanian artisanal cheese.
For the past 15 years, Horia has worked closely with local products from across the country. His work has taken him deep into the world of small-scale producers and artisanal food, with a particular focus on the people, places and traditions behind what ends up on our tables.
All the cheeses featured during the masterclass come from Transylvania, with Horia sharing the stories behind the producers, their craft and the remarkable variety that has emerged from the region in recent years.
You’ll taste a selection of exceptional cheeses and discover what makes each one unique, while showing how different styles of cheese can be paired with spirits from Pater.
